⇓in character⇓

PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Yes. She can be rather touchy and clingy to people she likes. She'll respond to it less well from strangers.

PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Yeah, get her ass. (Don't, she will probably kill you.)

ROMANCE/FLIRTING: Why would you do this? She's a pretty shameless flirt, but sincere romantic feelings are a bit harder for her to deal with or stomach. Any actual romance would require prior discussion since she's pretty horrible about it.

SEXUAL CONTENT: Yes. She is unfortunately a freak and into the weirdest shit you can think of so smut with her will quickly turn Weird.

PSYCHIC ABILITIES: As a paleblood she has psionic abilities, specifically dedicated to entering people's dreams or memories. See my app for details/more to come.

MAGIC/POWERS: She's a very powerful necromancer with a specialty for flesh magic. See my app for details. One other notable thing is that she's got two souls inside of her. Or rather, her own soul and another soul that she is constantly cannibalizing.

MEDICAL INFORMATION: She's a rather sickly girl in her early twenties. This comes from the physically taxing practice of necromancy, and the fact that she's had to do it for two in order to maintain their façade. Other than that, she regenerates from any wound apart from the complete destruction of her brain. Also she's missing her right arm and has a skeletal one instead that she's plated with gold.

OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS OR TRIGGERS: She's very unflappable. She doesn't particularly like bad or neglectful parents, though. Nor does she like people looking down on her or jumping to conclusions about her/refusing to acknowledge her accomplishments. Also anyone talking about her sister, specifically implying she might be dead or should be dead, will probably get pretty badly mangled.

BACKTAGGING: Yep.

FOURTH WALLING: With prior discussion and limits.

THREADHOPPING: Generally yep!

Character Background

• History: Here
• Core Relationships:
Coronabeth Tridentarius: Ianthe's twin sister, and the person that Ianthe cares about most in the world. Coronabeth was born without any necromantic talent, so their parents concocted a fiction where they would convince the world that they were both necromancers, meaning that Ianthe had to perform necromancy for Coronabeth to keep her secret. She loves her sister dearly but there's no small amount of resentment over the bullshit position she was put in, so she's often quite cruel to her.
Harrowhark Nonagesimus: The only other Lyctor to be declared at the end of Gideon the Ninth, they were forced into proximity often and came to form an uneasy alliance. Ianthe very quickly caught feelings for her and covered them up with acting like any romantic gestures she made were jokes or manipulation, but truthfully, Harrow is one of the few people she thinks actually sees her as she is. Again, this doesn't mean Ianthe treats her well.
Augustine: Ianthe's teacher and mentor after she was declared a Lyctor. They're both very fond of one another, and both employ humor in deceptive ways. She betrayed him at the end of Harrow the Ninth when he revealed his plan to kill the Emperor would have resulted in the mass extinction of the Nine Houses, so she kicked him down into "Hell" to die a horrible death.
Naberius Tern: Her cavalier and childhood companion. He was one of the few people in on Coronabeth's secret and all three of them knew eachother very well. When Ianthe became a Lyctor, she killed him to avoid following the spirit of it and sacrificing Coronabeth (the person she was closest to in the world).
Kiriona Gaia: Also known as Gideon Nav. When John brought Kiriona to life, she was basically all Ianthe had for company and vice versa. They made friendship bracelets.

Character Personality Through Key Moments

(2+) Positive Experiences:
Ianthe is smart. Insufferably so, really. Just like Palamedes and Harrow, she declares herself to be the best necromancer of her generation, having been the very first to figure out the Lyctorhood megatheorem. She's able to use flesh magic to rewire Harrow's memories by effectively lobotomizing her, something which Harrow relied on her to do, and she's the only one of John's saints who is sharp enough to understand that he's full of shit and manipulating all of them.

In addition, she is also loyal in her own... very unique way. Kiriona tears herself into pieces to get the approval of her father and become his cavalier and Ianthe yells at her that she's being manipulated and poisoned by his influence. She also risks betraying the emperor and the brutal punishments he demonstrates to keep Harrow's secret and honor her deal.

She sees the bigger picture, or at least she tries to. Ianthe isn't a compassionate person at all and doesn't concern herself with saving individual lives too much unless she's feeling particularly generous or likes the person individually, but she was taught how to rule and does care about doing her duty as the princess of Ida and heiress to the Third House. She trusts and relies on Augustine, and goes back on that loyalty and murders him when it becomes clear that his plan would sacrifice the entire Empire, an outcome she feels conflicted about but isn't able to accept.

(2+) Negative Experiences:
She is callous. Performatively so, in fact. In some ways this is a response to the way her life has turned out, by embracing her ruthlessness and cruelty she's able to cope with the horrible things she has to do to remain a Lyctor and ensure the Empire wins it's eternal war against Blood of Eden. She kills Naberius and makes a resentful speech about how stupid everyone else is and makes a whole act about how little this act of murder meant to her, even though Naberius was a close companion of hers. Even after the fact, she will reminisce about him to Harrow and then she will swerve to showing how little she cared.

She's capricious. More specifically, she will often do things solely for the purpose of a joke she finds particularly funny, or because she doesn't want to do something. Harrow and Ianthe are in a situation in HTN where they can only trust eachother, and Ianthe lies to her and gaslights her for no reason other than her own amusement, specifically when Harrow asks her to confirm the presence of a corpse under her bed and Ianthe lies and says there's nothing there. She's... a dick, basically. And she takes joy in screwing with people.

She is bitterly jealous and resentful. Her entire life, Ianthe was brought up in the lap of luxury, where she was essentially the family's golden goose and the only way that their house could politically go forward due to her sister's secret hindering them severely. Despite this, she has never been the favorite, and even after she was declared a saint, her family made no monuments to this incredible achievement, instead making a memorial for Coronabeth's disappearance (she was not dead.) This comes up later, when Palamedes and Camilla try to offer Ianthe a means of achieving true lyctorhood where both herself and Naberius are united as one single entity balanced between the two of them, and Ianthe's response is snarling contempt as if even by offering they have insulted her. She hates herself and the choices she's made, but she's too proud and jealous to stop and admit it outloud, or to accept any offers of mercy or second chances.

Deer Country Attributes

• Canon Powers: Here. Shamelessly copying Rona's version. More specifically she's a specialist in flesh magic, which allows her to do anything from creating walking golems of flesh to constructing flesh walls and barriers to flaying someone alive. This flesh magic is powered by cannibalizing corpses or the consumption of human blood or flesh (usually she just bites herself or her cavalier.)
• Blood Type: Paleblood.
• Omen: A raven named Cerbere with three dog heads instead of a bird head. Like so. He's very proper and even dresses himself to the best of his abilities. and can communicate telepathically to Ianthe and using the network, but can't directly talk or go against Ianthe's will.
• Blessed Day: 13th of February, aka Galentines Day.
• Patron Pthumerian: The Doorway
• Blood Power Manifestation: Ianthe's powers will start out vague and largely outside of her control. What she will start with as an opening hook is that she will feel a compulsion to enter the dreams or memories of others and experience them, it will manifest as a primal hunger that she'll have to feed at least a few times a month or else she'll start undergoing beast-hood.

Eventually as her powers develop she'll slowly learn how to control whose dreams she's entering and to force specific memories out of them, and she'll even learn how to do it while they're both wide awake, and (with player permission as with the rest of this) she'll have the ability to devour the memories of others and make them forget things and plant false constructed memories in their place.
